BLOOD & URINE

Cholesterol is a waxy substance found in your blood. High levels of LDL (bad) cholesterol can increase your risk of heart disease. We conduct a blood test using the latest technology to screen you for 5 different types of cholesterol. 50% of the UK population have undiagnosed high cholesterol.

HbA1c

HbA1c is a diabetes test looking at your average blood glucose (sugar) levels for the last two to three months. Diabetes is one of the most common diseases in the UK effecting 5 million people. There are also over half a million people with undiagnosed diabetes meaning they have too much sugar in their blood.

HEART

High blood pressure can block and prevent blood flow to the heart muscle potentially leading to a heart attack or stroke.

Heart rate is the number of times a person's heart beats per minute. Normal heart rate varies from person to person. We check this using an Electrocadigram to make sure it is not too high or too low, which could be a sign of an underlying heart condition.

BODY COMPOSITION

Our Body Scan will determine your current body fat percentage and give you an ideal amount of body fat needed for your age, gender, height and weight.

Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is an estimate of the amount of energy required for your body to function when at complete rest to perform essential activity such as breathing, circulation, body temperature regulation and cell growth. This will provide us with valuable information on your caloric needs to either reduce weight, gain or sustain your current weight.

Estimated Activity Rate (EAR) is an estimation of the number of calories you need each day. It is calculated by multiplying your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) by an activity factor. This test will give us an indication of the number of calories needed when you are active.

This test will give us an indication if you are under weight, which can be a sign of malnutrition or other diseases. If you are under the ideal threshold, it could lead to osteoporosis and frailty.

Water plays a vital role in our everyday bodily functions. This test will determine how much water is in your body and whether you are dehydrated, hydrated or if you are retaining too much water.

Waist to Height Ratio Calculator is a measure of your body fat distribution. It should be less than 50% in healthy adults. A high fat distribution around the waist has been shown to correlate with diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and metabolic syndrome.

We will provide an ideal healthy weight based on your height, weight, gender, age and lean body weight.

We will calculate your current BMI, and advise if it is high based on your body fat percentage or if it is your natural build. Although a useful indicator, muscle is much denser than fat, so very muscular people such as heavyweight boxers, weight trainers and athletes, may be a healthy weight even though their BMI is classed as obese.
